Kentucky Alfalfa Conference Hay Contest

Alfalfa Hay Contest Winners

The Kentucky Department of Agriculture Forage Testing Program along with the University of Kentucky hand out certificates to the Forage Participants that have the Best Alfalfa and the Best Alfalfa/Grass hay for the months of April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November with an Alfalfa Champion Hay.

Participants are recognized with a certificate and featured in the Kentucky Forage and Grasslands Website.

Who is eligible:  A Kentucky Producer that Produces His/Her Own Hay **Purchased hay is not eligible**

What Hay can be entered:  Alfalfa Hay and Alfalfa/Grass Mix (any form)

How Much Does it Cost:  No Fee – Included with Paid Kentucky Department of Agriculture Forage Test

How is it Entered:  By Harvest Date

The Contest season:  The Growing Seasons are April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November of the current year.

How is it Scored:  The Highest Score is based By Adding The Relative Feed Value (RFV) and Protein Content (cp). This determines who will Win For Each Category And Month.

The Prize: 1) A certificate recognizing your accomplishment of having the best alfalfa or alfalfa/grass. 2) A $30.00 discount on the registration cost at the Heart of America Grazing Conference in 2016. 3) A delicious meal. 4) Knowledge.

When is the Conference:  The forage contest is held after the following harvest year.
